“Bearded man sings songs, violates banjo” – CMJ

Tall Tall Trees is definitely not your grandaddy’s banjo player. Tall Tall Trees- Otherwise known as Mike Savino has released two records on his own start-up label Good Neighbor Records, Tall Tall Trees (2009), and moment (2012), and has toured extensively, mystifying audiences with his innovative banjo technique. Whether performing with his band or solo, Savino runs his instrument, dubbed by fans as the “space banjo” or “banjotron”, through a slab of effects and loopers - and plays it with wild abandon - bowing, drumming, and strumming out multi-textured arrangements on the fly to support his lyrically driven songs.

Most recently, Tall Tall Trees has been touring the world as a member of Kishi Bashi’s band – and also often serving as the tour’s opening act, as well!  He is currently hard at work on a third record (produced by Kishi Bashi), which should be released in early 2015.

Ian Fitzgerald

Ian Fitzgerald was reared in a small Massachusetts town; resides now in a different small Massachusetts town; and lived in Rhode Island for a spell in between.  Regardless of where he's been, Ian has maintained a lifelong passion for music which has only grown in the decade that he has been writing songs and playing them for audiences throughout New England and up and down the east coast.  In their review of his latest album, No Time To Be Tender [2013], Performer Magazine called Ian "a polished songsmith who is high atop a field of great artists breaking through to festival and folk concerts throughout the States."  That breakthrough continues as Ian tours in support of that record, including recent performances at the NXNE Festival and the kickoff show for this year's Newport Folk Festival.
